How To Make A Loaded Stuffed Pizza Bread!

If you’re counting calories, look away now!! This recipe is not for you! This easy to make, fully Loaded stuffed Pizza Bread, is Cheesy, meaty and deliciously doughy! It’s so wrong, but so right! Here’s How I make it…

Pizza Bread

The way to a mans heart…

My husband would be the first to tell you, that I am a feeder!

It’s true, I am! I love nothing more than feeding my family. There are no rumbly tummies when i’m in the house! And I must admit, I do, on occasion, use my baking to butter my husband up, for whatever DIY project I have in mind for him. Sneaky? …yes. But sometimes necessary!

The way to my husbands heart and his DIY skills is most definitely through his stomach! This Loaded Stuffed Pizza bread was an offering to convince him to fit some new brass electrical sockets at home.

The trick is…fill him up, wait until he’s really content, then ask the question…it works every time! The truth is… i’m not actually fooling anyone!

My hubby knows the drill, as soon as im in the midst of a big bake off! He’s already prepared for what comes next, he’s just more than happy to take the bribe first! ;O)

Technically Not a pizza!

My Husband loves cheese, meat, and fresh baked bread! I know that I have just described a Pizza! But fitting 15 Brass sockets is no small job! I needed to come up with something a little fancier than a pizza!

All Pizza dough is formed from the same basic ingredients: flour, yeast, water, salt, and olive oil. Whereas my dough includes extras, such as milk and egg. These added fats create a more substantial dough, an enriched dough that is softer and richer than your standard Pizza base.

Ingredients

**Makes 2 Loaded Stuffed Pizza Breads

For The Bread dough:

  • Strong White Bread Flour
  • Quick action yeast
  • Salt
  • Egg
  • lukewarm milk
  • lukewarm water
  • olive oil or Vegetable Oil

For the filling:

  • Tomato Puree
  • Mozzarella Grated Cheese
  • Your Favourite sausages (I used Cumberland)
  • Bacon
  • Onion Chopped
  • Vegetable oil for cooking
  • Beaten egg for egg wash
  • Dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to Season

method

Make the dough:

  • Place the flour and Yeast in a mixing bowl and mix together with a wooden spoon.
  • Add the rest of the dough ingredients and mix with a spoon or rubber spatula until combined.
  • Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead for around 5 minutes until smooth and stretchy. * If it feels too wet, sprinkle some flour on the dough until more workable. ( you could also use a stand mixer for this part, with the dough hook)
  • Place the dough in a lined bowl or proving bowl, cover, and allow to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size

Prepare the filling:

  • While the dough is rising, remove the Sausage casing from each sausage. Mash the naked sausages and set aside (see video)
  • Cut 3 bacon rashes into small pieces, set aside.
  • Place a frying pan over a medium heat and add the vegetable oil.
  • Place the bacon, chopped onion and sausage in the pan and heat until cooked through. The sausage meat should resemble cooked mince. Set aside

Back to the dough:

  • Dump out the risen dough onto a floured work surface and cut into two equal portions.
  • Roll each portion into a large rectangle (see video)
  • Spread each with Tomato Puree. Sprinkle with the bacon and sausage meat. Sprinkle with Grated Mozzarella cheese. Season with salt and Pepper.

  • Roll the Dough (like a sleeping bag) until you have 2 large logs. Pinch the join with your fingers to secure the fold on each log (see video)
  • Using a Sharp Knife Cut down the centre of each log. (*This is the messy part)
  • Cut side up, twist both pieces into a spiral shape(see video). So Each dough length wraps around each other. You want to create 2 pizza like shapes. Pinch the dough together, or use tooth picks or bbq skewers to hold in place.

BY HAND OR BY MIXER?

This Loaded Stuffed Pizza Bread dough can be done by hand or with the use of a stand mixer. For the longest time I made all my bread doughs by hand. But I can’t deny the efficiency and practicality of a stand mixer! If you are thinking about investing in A Stand Mixer I recommend the one I Use…The Rose Gold and Black Salter EK4245RG Stand Mixer.
