Iced Coffee, The Perfect pick me up for hot days!
I don’t always get as much sleep as i’d like during the Summer months! High temperatures can lead to muggy, sweaty and uncomfortable sleeping conditions. My body of 40 years has long been acclimatized to the usual cold weather in the UK, it has endured and even become comfortable with, the rain and the cold!
I do not do well in the heat! When temperatures are high, I find everything uncomfortable…walking, gardening, cleaning, baking, shopping, sleeping! All the things I love to do, becomes a chore! It zaps my energy and makes me a teeny bit grumpy and sleepy! (I’m not intentionally listing dwarves! ;o))
The last thing I want to consume, is more heat! So when the temperatures are rising and I want to quench my thirst and boost my energy levels, I like to switch out my regular hot coffee with Iced Coffee. Here’s some more Iced Coffee benefits you probably didn’t know…

Did You Know?
The first iced coffee was called mazagran (or masagran). Invented by the french Army during the battle Of Mazagran (1840). The Battle of Mazagran was a conflict between Arab and Berber forces, against the invading French troops during the French conquest of Algeria.
To cope with hotter temperatures in Algeria, the French colonial soldiers would drink cold coffee instead of hot. It was prepared with a Coffee syrup and on occasion, a little cognac or rum would be added for an extra kick…should supplies be available of course ;O)
