Unbelievably Delicious!

These delicious Homemade Brownies are made with everyday ingredients, all of which you probably have in the Cupboard or Fridge at home! Unlike regular Brownies, you wont need to melt Chocolate, because these brownies are made with Cocoa! Does that lessen the flavour? Hell no! I have 4 kids and 1 Husband that absolutely LOVE these brownies. They last the time it takes for my kids to run down the stairs, grab as much as they can carry and run off…not kidding, it’s like locusts attacking! All I have to do is shout…’BROWNIES’ and they all come a running!

Brownies are beloved worldwide! You’ll be hard pushed to find many people who don’t love a Brownie or Ten! But where did this obsession with Brownies begin? Here’s a little history…

A Little Brownie History!

Us Brits cannot take credit for this delicious Bake, they were invented by our friends across the pond in the USA. The first known Brownie recipe was published in 1896 in the Boston Cooking School Cook Book, written by Fannie Farmer. However, it is believed the first ever Brownie was made by a Housewife in Bangor, Maine. And it came about by complete accident!…The story goes that the woman forgot to add baking powder to a chocolate cake she was baking, and so, the cake did not rise! Instead of tossing it in the bin, she tried it anyway and stumbled on something rather delicious! Over time the bake has been tweaked and adapted into the Brownie we know Today! Thank God for the Housewife in Maine!

The Basics of A Brownie

Brownies come in all shapes and sizes! And Each Baker has their own Take on what a Brownie should be…some like them cakey, some like them Fudgy (like me) it’s all about personal preference!

Brownies are generally baked in a square or rectangular cake tin and are made by combining staple ingredients, flour, fats (butter or oil), sugar, eggs and chocolate or Cocoa powder.

The outcome of your brownie is all dependant on the length of time you bake them..Did you know? That a Brownie will continue to cook even after you have removed it from the oven. So I tend to cook my brownies for the Bare minimum amount of time, for that perfect texture…in my oven, it’s 20 minutes to heaven!
