5 reasons why Tinned Potatoes are a good idea!
I won’t try to tell you that tinned Potatoes are better than fresh potatoes, because quite simply, that’s not true! Tinned Potatoes may not have the same texture or flavour as fresh potatoes, but they can still be a delicious practical option. Here’s why I always keep a few tins in the cupboard…
1. Longevity
Tinned Potatoes have a long shelf life. We’re talking 3-5yrs! If the fridge is bare and you haven’t got around to the Friday big shop yet! The tinned potatoes will still be there! ;o)
2. Convenience
Tinned potatoes are convenient! Pre-cooked and tinned in water they are ready to use without any prep whatsoever. No peeling! Yay!
3. Versatility
Tinned potatoes are incredibly versatile! Slice them, dice them, mash them, fry them, boil them, Roast them, pop them in stews and soups and toss them in salads.
4. Accessibility
Fresh produce is not always readily available, tinned potatoes can sometimes provide a convenient alternative. Especially is rural regions or any area that is lacking everyday conveniences.
5. Budget friendly
Tinned spuds are cheap ! More affordable than fresh potatoes, tinned potatoes do serve a need. If your keeping an eye on the family finances and need to save some pennies here and there, then tinned potatoes will help cut costs.
