Easy, no fuss Salt & Pepper Bread

Ingredients

  • 650 g Strong White Bread Flour
  • 1 x 7g sachet of quick action yeast
  • 2 tsp Cracked Black pepper
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Olive oil
  • 440 ml warm water

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, stir together the flour, pepper, salt and yeast. Stir in the olive oil and warm water. Form a Dough. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 mins until smooth and stretchy
  • Place in an oiled or lined bowl, cover with cling film, set aside to rise for 1 hour, until doubled in size
  • Preheat the oven to 200°c. 
  • After 1 hour, turn out on to a lined floured baking sheet. Shape into an oval, pat down with flour. Score, with a sharp knife or lame. Set aside for 20 minutes to swell a little
  • Optional but delicious! Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with Sea Salt and Black pepper
  • Pop in the oven for 35-40 minutes

* For a crispier crust put a metal baking dish 1/3 full with water at the bottom of the oven.
