1 x sachet of Quick action yeast (7g)
400g of Plain Flour
1 1/2 tsp of Salt
2. In a separate bowl mix the flour and salt together, then add to the yeast mix, stir to combine until a dough forms.
3. Turn dough out onto a floured surface, if it feels too wet add sprinkles of flour until workable.
4. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth stretchy.
5. Place into an oiled bowl or proving bowl, cover and allow to rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
6. After rise divide the dough in 2.
7. Shape each into a long roll, then loop to make a circle ( see video)
8. With clean kitchen scissors cut deep notches at a 60° degree angle, then turn each section outward ( see video) to create a sun shape.
9. Cover with cling film and allow to rest for 30 minutes to puff up.
10. Preheat the oven to 200°c
11. Make an egg wash ( 1 egg & 1 tbsp of water mixed together)
12. Brush the egg wash on the tip of each sunray point, and in the hollow of every cut ( see video)
13. Sprinkle Sesame seeds on the end of every point ( see video)
14. Pop in the oven for 25-30 minutes
Add a dip of your choice in the centre of the sun and serve.
