Christmas French Toast Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs
  • 50 ml Milk
  • 4 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 4 Slices of bread
  • 20 g Butter
  • Olive oil
  • 40 g Granulated Sugar
  • Cranberry Sauce

Instructions

  • In a Jug Mix together the Eggs, Milk and Vanilla Extract
  • Pour the egg mix onto a dinner plate
  • Cut the crusts off 4 slices of bread
  • Dip a pastry brush in the egg mix and brush the 4 sides of each piece of bread (see video)
  • Spread Cranberry sauce in the middle of 2 of the slices
  • Place the plain Bread slices on top of the cranberry slices (like your making a sandwich)
  • With a fork press the edges of each sandwich all the way around, so the Cranberry sauce is sealed within each sandwich
  • Dip each piece in the Egg mix, completely coating each side
  • Heat the butter and a splash of oil (enough for shallow frying) in a pan on medium heat
  • Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown
  • Pour the sugar on a dining plate and dip each French toast , coating each side (like a donut)
  • Serve while still warm
